Please share a funny or fond memory you have of the Rainbow School.

To Deena and all who planned the reunion,
What a wonderful job!  To all those who missed it:
Clear you calendar now for the 30th!!!

The school looks wonderful, the decorations were dazzling and the food was scrumptious.  The heart warming video reminded me of kids and teachers I had not thought of in years.  (It also reminded me I really do need to get some of that miracle anti-aging cream I have seen advertised on TV.) The music selected to go with the pictures could not have been better. The experience of the evening almost made me wish I had toddlers again, just so I could come back as a parent…almost, but no.

What really stands out about Saturday night is what has always been true about Rainbow school; rather it has an elevator, hot water in the bathrooms, air conditioning or a newly decorated nursery.

Rainbow is not really a preschool.  It is a place where parents can take their children to be watched by a family member who will love them almost as much as they do.  It is a place where it is hard to decide who has more fun, the kids or the teachers.  It has an atmosphere where no one cares if your hair is brown or green or cut short or even gone. (Right Mary Thompson?) It is a place where the janitor takes his break time to read a story to the kids, because that is the best place to relax.  It is a place where even after you have been gone for years, your Rainbow family stand by your side when tragedy strikes. It is a place where the students grow up and come back to work there. It is a place where the schooling is so much fun children have no idea they are learning.

Most people I talk to have had such a different preschool experience with their children.  Their teachers still call their kids the wrong name at the end of the year. (Ok, I still call my 21 year old a different name now and then.)At the reunion teachers were looking at 10 year old pictures pointing out children and saying things like "Oh that is Johnny's brother, remember how cute they were walking in together and then they would check on each other during the day."  Children here are more than just students.

Rainbow School has been apart our lives and we consider ourselves blessed. Not because of the location or accreditation, but because of the ideals it has held steadfast to for the last 25 years. As a past teacher and parent, I feel an obligation to help make sure that others have this same opportunity.  That is why my family has supported Rainbow School and will continue to support it in its future endeavors and with prayer.

I encourage all former teachers and past parents of Rainbow children to do the same.  Best of luck to Deena, all the teachers and staff of Rainbow School.  Keep up the good work!  A special thanks to Nick Williamson for the wonderful video.

This summer was the summer of RAIN for OTR. Ms. Becky finally got tired of it all and while at Kaleidoscope with the kids she made herself a hat "I HATE THE RAIN!!" and wore it proudly the rest of the day. I love my Rainbow School & OTR. I am fortunate to have it/them in my life. The staff is my extended family that has fun, works hard, takes care of each other and does a great service for the community. We make in impact on the children's lives & their families. Helping raise the community's youth is our honor, pride & JOY!

Rainbow is such an asset to the entire community. It is such a wonderful place to see children grow and be loved. Although, we no longer live in the area, we still drive our youngest to the summer program....that's how good it is! Can't wait to thank them for all their great work.

We won't be able to attend the reunion, but thank you so much for the invitation. I will work on getting some pictures onto this website soon. I can't wait to read others' updates. For those who remember Philip and Cole, they are going into 5th and 4th grade...and they're almost bigger than me!

I am very excited to invite everyone back to Rainbow School. It's hard to believe that it has been 25 years since it all started. I hope your family can join us to renew special friendships from your days at Rainbow. You will want to see some of the recent renovations and remember good friends and good times.
